Spring championship season is heating up, and the Fort Collins-area’s best young athletes are leaving it all on the field. This week, Blue Federal Credit Union and The Coloradoan are proud to present five standout nominees for the Boys Athlete of the Week. From the diamond to the pool, from the lacrosse pitch to the track, these athletes have delivered performances worth celebrating.
Fans can cast their votes every Monday through Thursday at coloradoan.com/sports. Voting is open until 11:59 a.m. on May 14, and the winner will be announced later that same day. This marks the 33rd week of the 2025-26 sports year, and with spring championship season winding down, every vote counts.
This week’s nominees come from a variety of sports, showcasing the depth of talent in the area. Representing Wellington and Fossil baseball, Rocky Mountain swim, Poudre School District lacrosse, and Fort Collins track and field, these athletes have earned their spot through grit and game-changing moments.
The Athlete of the Week series has already honored a long list of impressive performers this season. Rocky Mountain football’s Bode Nesbitt kicked things off in August by returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown. Poudre’s Owen Addington dominated on the tennis court in late August, dropping just six games across four sets. PSD’s Marli Brenner made waves in football with 13 tackles, two sacks, and a touchdown catch. Wellington’s Kensley Story crushed it in softball with two home runs and five stolen bases in a single week.
Flag football standout Jordyn Peterson caught three passes for 102 yards and two touchdowns in September. Fossil Ridge’s Emery Johnson racked up 58 kills and 44 digs at a national volleyball tournament. Quarterback Brooke Pravlik combined for over 300 total yards and four touchdowns in early October. Briella Myers went 10-for-11 with two home runs and three doubles in a scorching week of softball. And Olivia Ewing recorded 19 kills and 16 blocks in high-level volleyball wins.
Now, it’s time to add another name to this list. Check out the nominees below, and make your voice heard. Whether you’re a coach, a teammate, or just a fan of great sports, your vote helps recognize the hard work and dedication these athletes bring every day.
