Here are your five nominees for April, each bringing their A-game and making their communities proud.
Arrowhead Girls Track and Field – The back-to-back WIAA Division 1 state champions are chasing a three-peat, and they're off to a record-setting start. At the Classic 8 Conference relay meet on April 28, the Warhawks made history. Payton Eicher anchored both the 4x100 and 4x200 relay wins, then became the first female athlete in conference history to clear 20 feet in the long jump at the Brookfield Invite. Alongside Avery Bott and Giselle Huggett, Eicher helped tie the second-fastest 4x200 time in state history (1:38.55) and the fourth-fastest 4x100 (46.61). This team is flying—literally and figuratively.
Germantown Baseball – The Warhawks are perfect. A flawless 12-0 April has them sitting atop the Greater Metro Conference, and they're showing no signs of slowing down. In five of those wins, Germantown scored at least 10 runs, including an explosive 18-3 victory over Milwaukee King on April 24. Senior Jon Murkowski leads the charge with a .486 batting average and .620 on-base percentage, while the pitching staff boasts a 2.22 team ERA and 85 strikeouts. With that kind of firepower, Germantown looks every bit the title contender entering May.
Lake Country Lutheran Boys Golf – The Lightning are making waves on the links. Ranked in the top five of Division 2, LCL capped off a stellar April by winning the inaugural Midwest Classic Conference meet by a commanding 14 strokes. They also set a new program record, showcasing the depth and precision that has them poised for a deep postseason run. Consistency is key in golf, and this team is proving they have it in spades.
Muskego Soccer – The Warriors have been a force on the pitch all month, blending skill with relentless energy. Their April performances have turned heads, and they're entering May with momentum that could carry them far in the playoff picture.
Sussex Hamilton Softball – The Chargers are swinging hot bats and playing lockdown defense. Their April slate was packed with tough matchups, and they rose to the occasion time and again, proving they're a team to watch as the season heats up.
