The Visalia Parks and Recreation Department has given the traditional Senior Games a fresh new look, rebranding it as "The Visalia Games" to welcome younger participants. The inaugural 2026 event saw a larger turnout than the previous year's Senior Games, though the surge was largely driven by an increase in senior competitors.
Track and field events drew 70 competitors, with 68 of them aged 50 and above. To maintain fair competition, awards were distributed across various age groups. The fishing derby also attracted a strong senior presence, according to parks and recreation staff.
Pickleball continued its reign as the most popular event, mirroring trends from recent Senior Games, despite being restricted to participants aged 50 and older. Meanwhile, table tennis was saved from cancellation thanks to younger players stepping up to meet registration requirements. The only event that didn't make the cut this year was golf.
The shift to a more inclusive format reflects a growing trend in community sports, where multi-generational participation is encouraged. For those inspired to get active, whether on the pickleball court or the track, the right gear can make all the difference—check out our collection of performance apparel designed for athletes of every age.
