The Minnesota Vikings are still on the hunt for a new general manager, and they've set their sights on a familiar face from the Pacific Northwest. With the NFL Draft now in the rearview mirror, the search is heating up, and one name generating buzz is longtime Seattle Seahawks executive Nolan Teasley.
According to CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones, the Vikings have officially requested permission to interview Teasley for their vacant GM position. Teasley, who has been with the Seahawks since 2013, started as a scouting intern and worked his way up the ranks. He was promoted to assistant general manager in 2023 after several seasons as director of pro personnel. During his tenure in Seattle, he's been part of two Super Bowl-winning teams, giving him a championship pedigree that's hard to ignore.
This marks Teasley's first interview for a top front office role, but he's no stranger to the spotlight. In a 2023 survey by The Athletic, NFL agents voted him as one of the league's top talent evaluators. Even if he doesn't land the Vikings job, his reputation suggests he could be running his own franchise sooner rather than later.
Minnesota isn't putting all its eggs in one basket, though. The Vikings have cast a wide net, with known candidates including assistant GMs from the San Francisco 49ers (RJ Gillen), Los Angeles Rams (John McKay), and Buffalo Bills (Terrance Gray), among others. The last Seahawks assistant to land a GM role was Scott Fitterer with the Carolina Panthers, a tenure that ended on a sour note. But his successor in Carolina, Dan Morgan, is another former Seattle executive, proving that the Seahawks' front office pipeline remains strong.
For the Vikings, finding the right leader is crucial as they look to build on a promising roster. Whether Teasley is the answer or not, this search is shaping up to be one of the offseason's most intriguing storylines.
