The Minnesota Vikings have one of the most glaring needs left in the NFL: a reliable No. 3 wide receiver.
At the top of the depth chart, they're set with superstar Justin Jefferson. The No. 2 spot is solid with Jordan Addison—when he's available. But beyond that? It's a ghost town.
Jalen Nailor walked in free agency, and the Vikings haven't found a replacement. As ESPN's Aaron Schatz noted, "Tai Felton, who had three catches as a rookie in 2025, is the option for now. There's no depth here, either—the Vikings don't have another wide receiver who was drafted or has ever caught a regular-season pass in the NFL."
The silver lining? Free agency still offers a handful of veteran wideouts looking for a home. Schatz floated three big names: Stefon Diggs, Jauan Jennings, and Deebo Samuel.
Diggs, of course, started his career in Minnesota. Jennings has been a reliable target for the 49ers. Samuel is a versatile playmaker who could thrive in a new system. Any of them would instantly upgrade the Vikings' receiving corps—and they'd likely see plenty of snaps in a rotation that desperately needs proven hands.
They'd also be catching passes from new quarterback Kyler Murray, who's in prove-it mode himself. That connection could be a game-changer for both player and team.
It would be a shock if the Vikings entered the new season without adding a veteran wideout. At this point, it's not a question of if—it's who will step into that WR3 role.
