The Minnesota Vikings have made a swift roster move, cutting ties with undrafted rookie outside linebacker Jordan Botelho just weeks after signing him. The decision was announced Thursday, signaling a quick end to what was a brief audition for the former Notre Dame standout.

Botelho, who signed with the Vikings shortly after the 2026 NFL Draft, participated in the team's rookie minicamp from May 8-9. However, his performance apparently didn't meet the coaching staff's expectations for an offseason roster spot. Now, the 6-foot-2, 248-pound linebacker will look to revive his NFL dreams with another team.

During his college career at Notre Dame, Botelho used six years of eligibility to appear in 62 games, recording 97 combined tackles, 12.5 sacks, and 16.5 tackles for loss. Despite those numbers, the transition to the professional level proved challenging.

To fill the open roster spot, the Vikings have added wide receiver Terrill Davis, who spent the 2025 season at Oklahoma State. Davis brings an intriguing story to Minnesota: he was primarily a basketball player in high school before switching to football in his senior year. Last season, he posted 29 receptions for 373 yards in 12 games for the Cowboys.

Before his time at Oklahoma State, Davis played at Central Oklahoma, where he put up eye-popping numbers. In 2024, he led all NCAA wide receivers—regardless of division—with 1,609 receiving yards. He also set multiple school records, including single-season marks for receiving yards and touchdowns (15). Additionally, Davis became the first player in UCO history to record three 200-yard receiving games in a single season.

As with all undrafted rookies, Davis faces a tough road to make the final roster. A spot on the practice squad after training camp cuts may be a more realistic goal for the talented wideout.

With rookie minicamp now in the rearview mirror, the Vikings are shifting their focus to Organized Team Activities (OTAs). The schedule runs from May 20-21, May 23, May 28-29, May 31, and June 10-13. Between those sessions, the team will hold a mandatory minicamp from June 4-6, which all players must attend. After OTAs wrap up, the Vikings will enjoy a brief summer break before returning for training camp.
