Wall baseball is on a mission. The defending Class 3A state champions are charging toward another title, and they've already cleared the first two hurdles with authority. After sweeping Blanco and Tolar in the opening playoff rounds, the Hawks now set their sights on a familiar foe: Coahoma, a former district rival, in the regional semifinals.

It hasn't been a smooth ride, but that's exactly what makes this team so dangerous. Head coach Jeremy Gordon credits the squad's resilience for their postseason surge. "Through the good times and bad times, the players have been able to power through and stay together," Gordon said. "That's important, and you see all that paying off right now."

The Hawks' senior class is leading the charge, bringing a blend of experience and composure that's hard to beat. "We're all seniors, we've all got it together, and we've been in this position before," said senior Kellan Oliver. "Since we all dealt with adversity early in the season, it's pushed our limits. That's why we're playing such good ball right now."

Senior Stephen Laney echoed that confidence, pointing to the team's timing. "It's all about peaking at the right time as a squad. I feel like we're going to start that this week with Coahoma. Our bats are going to get hot, our defense keeps playing good, and our pitchers are shoving as always."

For a team that knows what it takes to win it all, the path is clear. The best-of-three series against Coahoma kicks off Friday, May 15 at McMurry University in Abilene, with first pitch set for 7 p.m. Central. If the Hawks can keep this momentum rolling, another state championship might be just a few wins away.
