In a game that will be remembered as one of the most thrilling comebacks of the season, UT Tyler showed incredible grit and determination to erase a 7-0 deficit and defeat No. 2 Angelo State 11-8 on Friday afternoon at Irwin Field. The victory not only keeps their postseason dreams alive but also punches their ticket to the Lone Star Conference Tournament Championship for the very first time in program history.

The early innings looked grim for the Patriots. Angelo State capitalized on defensive miscues to plate two unearned runs in the first inning without even recording a hit. They added another in the second on an RBI triple, then broke the game wide open with a four-run third inning that put UT Tyler in a daunting 7-0 hole.

But the Patriots refused to back down. They started chipping away in the bottom of the third, with Bryce Jewell and Connor Clark both crossing the plate after a pair of Rams errors, cutting the deficit to 7-2. The momentum carried into the fourth, where Kaston Mason launched a solo home run to center field that seemed to ignite the dugout. Jewell followed with a sacrifice fly, and Brock Bearden ripped an RBI double down the right field line, bringing the score to 7-5.

After a few quiet innings, Angelo State managed to add a run in the seventh to push their lead to 8-5. That's when the Patriots delivered their biggest moment of the day.

In the bottom of the seventh, UT Tyler sent nine batters to the plate and erupted for five runs on five hits. Tanner Hornback and Drew Schmidt reached base to start the inning, and Mason came through with a clutch two-run double to make it 8-7. Then, with the crowd on its feet, Jewell laced a two-run double down the left field line to give the Patriots their first lead of the game at 9-8. Connor Clark added an RBI single to cap the rally and extend the lead to 10-8.

The Patriots added an insurance run in the eighth in dramatic fashion, as Drew Schmidt stole home as part of a double steal to make it 11-8. From there, the UT Tyler pitching staff held firm, closing out one of the most memorable wins in program history and sending the Patriots to the championship game.
