The U.S. Men's National Team could be on the verge of losing one of its most exciting young talents, as New York Red Bulls forward Julian Hall openly considers a switch to Poland. The 18-year-old is enjoying a breakout season under Michael Bradley, and his performances have caught the eye of international scouts—but it's Poland that's making the strongest play for his future.
Born and raised in New York, Hall is also eligible to represent Poland through his mother, and he's already made history in MLS this season. The young striker became the youngest player ever to score five or more goals in his first six appearances of a single campaign, a record that signals the arrival of a special talent. So far this year, Hall has netted nine goals and added three assists in 13 appearances across all competitions for the Red Bulls.
While Hall has represented the U.S. at the Under-15 and Under-17 levels, he has yet to earn a senior call-up under Mauricio Pochettino—despite his red-hot form. That gap has opened the door for Poland, which is pulling out all the stops to secure his commitment. Cezary Kulesza, president of the Polish Football Federation, recently traveled to the U.S. to meet with Hall's mother, Agnieszka. Sharing a photo of the two holding a Poland jersey with her maiden name, Zakrzewski, printed on the back—the same name Hall wears for the Red Bulls—Kulesza wrote on X: "I met in New York with Julian's mom. It's impressive how she supports her son on his soccer journey. We were of the same opinion—that the surname Zakrzewski looks beautiful on a white-and-red jersey."
When asked about Poland's interest, Hall was diplomatic but honest. Speaking to Apple TV, he said: "I gotta give my mom props for that. She was born there, and I have that part of me, of course. I'm open to everything. I appreciate my Polish roots, but I'm also appreciative of my American roots as well. We'll see what the future holds."
For USMNT fans, the message is clear: the clock is ticking. Hall's talent is undeniable, and if the senior team doesn't act soon, they may watch a future star slip away to Poland. Whether you're following his rise in MLS or hoping to see him in red, white, and blue, Julian Hall is a name worth remembering.
