USC women's basketball fans, mark your calendars. The 2026–2027 season is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated in program history, and all eyes are on the return of superstar Juju Watkins.
After missing the entire 2025–2026 season due to a torn ACL, Watkins is gearing up to reclaim her place on the court for the Trojans. In a recent interview with ESPN, she gave an encouraging update on her recovery journey.
"Recovery's coming along very well," Watkins shared. "Just staying with it, and I'll be back soon."
The dynamic guard added that she's been gradually ramping up her activity. "I'm like working out and stuff. While I'm here just shooting mainly, but back home just working on everything. Getting closer to the finish line, so I'm grateful about that."
For any athlete, an ACL injury is as much a mental battle as a physical one. Watkins acknowledged the emotional toll but emphasized the lessons learned. "I think this journey has definitely taught me to have a lot of patience. So many ups and downs within the process, but just staying true to myself and staying true to the process."
The wait is almost over. Watkins and the Trojans are set to tip off the 2026–2027 campaign in Las Vegas against UNLV. After a long and challenging road to recovery, seeing her back in action will be a moment worth celebrating for USC fans everywhere.
