Mainz 05 head coach Urs Fischer is refusing to let his team get comfortable, even after a stunning European achievement earlier this week. Speaking ahead of Sunday's Bundesliga clash with SC Freiburg, the famously cautious manager stressed that the relegation battle is far from over for his squad.

Currently sitting on 33 points, Mainz still need at least one more win or two draws to reach the widely accepted 35-point safety mark. This weekend's fixture is a tough one, pitting them against a high-flying Freiburg side fresh off its own European success, making Fischer's point about focus all the more critical.

"I'm far from that opinion," Fischer stated when asked if his team could start thinking about safety. "To look that far ahead would simply be wrong. We're still arithmetically in the mix, and it's not good enough yet. Sure, the situation has changed a bit, but we're still not out of the woods."

Fischer emphasized that there's no time to celebrate past victories, highlighting the disciplined challenge Freiburg will present. "We must take time to sort out our mentality properly," he said. "We're facing a very patient, composed, and mature team. Dreams are permitted, but there's a solid cap on them." It's a classic Bundesliga survival mindset: stay grounded, focus on the next challenge, and fight for every point.
