Unity baseball is on a tear this season, boasting an impressive 19-3 record after making deep runs in both boys basketball and football. The Rockets have their sights set on redemption following a heartbreaking loss to Monticello in last year's sectional championship game.

At the heart of this success is head coach Tom Kimball, who recently reached an extraordinary milestone: his 400th career win. But for Kimball, the achievement is about much more than the numbers. In a sport where wins and losses can define a season, he's found a deeper purpose.

"As I've grown older and grown into this little bit, I realize that winning is important and we all love to win," Kimball said. "But in reality, the relationships that you build and if you can help kids better themselves and be a better part in society, at the end of the day, that's kind of what coaching is about."

Kimball is quick to spread the credit, thanking community members, administrators, and the talented players who have made the program's recent success possible. It's a humble approach that resonates deeply with his team.

"Seeing him in school, it just builds an even better relationship with him," said senior Coleton Langendorf. "He's always joking with us when he sees us, and we're just always having a good time with him."

For fans of the game, this story is a reminder that the best victories aren't always on the scoreboard—they're the bonds forged on and off the field. Whether you're a player, coach, or fan, that's the kind of team spirit worth celebrating.
