Manchester United's rising star Yuel Helafu is dreaming big. The 17-year-old defender has his sights set on making history when he and his teammates take on Manchester City in the FA Youth Cup final this Thursday.

Helafu's journey to the United academy is a story of seizing the moment. He caught the club's attention while playing for his grassroots team against United's developmental side, impressing enough that the Red Devils moved quickly to bring him into the fold at the start of the season.

Since then, the Yorkshire-born talent has been making waves. Under the guidance of Darren Fletcher, Helafu has been a regular feature for the Under-18s and has even stepped up to the Under-21s—a remarkable achievement for a player his age. But perhaps most impressive? He's already trained with the first team under both Ruben Amorim and interim head coach Michael Carrick this season.

Ahead of the Youth Cup final, Helafu spoke with club media about what the moment means to him. "I'm a United fan, so it means everything playing for this club," he said. "I hope to represent them in the first team in the coming years. Winning the FA Youth Cup will mean everything. The club has a massive history of winning it—it will be the 12th time if we win it. Hopefully, I can be part of the FA Youth Cup history at Man United."

The defender also couldn't hide his excitement about the pre-match traditions. "Even just wearing the suits beforehand is a good feeling. You look sharp, you look fresh."

Helafu credits the coaching staff for his rapid development. "They've definitely helped us to get to where we are now. The detail they give us in training and games helps us so much. Fletch and Col [Colin Little] have both been footballers, so they know how hard it is and they give us the best detail possible to make us the best players."

When asked about Fletcher's role ahead of the big match, Helafu was confident. "He'll keep us calm. He'll just make sure we're ready for it because he knows, if we're ready, then we can beat anyone."

Reflecting on his own performances this season, the young defender is proud of how far he's come. "I'm happy. I'm proud of where I've come to. I've had different experiences, playing with the Under-18s and the Under-21s, training with the first team."

With the final just days away, all eyes will be on Helafu and his teammates as they look to add another chapter to United's storied Youth Cup legacy.
