The University of North Dakota has officially announced its 2026 Athletics Hall of Fame class, a lineup that reads like a who's who of Fighting Hawks legends. Athletic director Bill Chaves and Letterwinners Association President Tim Skarperud unveiled the inductees Monday, setting the stage for a celebration of excellence on Friday, Oct. 2, at the Alerus Center.
This year's class features eight standout individuals and two legendary teams that left an indelible mark on UND sports history. The individual inductees include Brian Strom (Swimming & Diving, 1990-2016), Weston Dressler (Football, 2004-07), Jeff Panzer (Men's Hockey, 1997-01), Chad Mustard (Men's Basketball, 1996-00), Michelle Karvinen (Women's Hockey, 2011-14), Jen (Cilz) Hodny (Soccer, 1999-01, 2003), Becky (Moen) Behrens (Women's Basketball, 1999-03), and Jenny (Boll) Christofferson (Women's Basketball, 1999-03). The 1957-58 and 2000-01 men's hockey teams will also be enshrined in the team category, celebrating their historic runs on the ice.
Beyond the athletes, the ceremony will honor former Minnesota high school swimming coach and Paralympic coach Steve Van Dyne with the Tom Clifford Award, while longtime benefactors Susan and Scott Sayer receive the Honorary Letterwinner Award for their enduring support of UND athletics.
The 51st annual Athletics Hall of Fame event will feature a dinner and induction ceremony on Oct. 2, followed by a special recognition during UND's home football game against Murray State the next afternoon. With this year's inductees, the Hall of Fame now boasts 304 individuals and 50 teams, all showcased in the "Hawkway" connecting Hyslop at Memorial Village to the Nodak Insurance Company Sports Performance Center.
Among the standout stories, Jenny (Boll) Christofferson helped form a dynamic 1-2 punch for the Fighting Sioux women's basketball team alongside fellow inductee Becky Moen. Boll scored 1,651 career points—eighth all-time in program history—and grabbed 771 rebounds, just outside the top 10. A three-time All-NCC selection and two-time All-Region honoree, she also earned academic accolades while leading the team to two NCC titles, three conference tournament crowns, and four NCAA Division II Tournament appearances, including an Elite Eight run.
Meanwhile, Jen (Cilz) Hodny remains one of the most explosive scorers in UND soccer history. Over four seasons, she netted 38 goals and added 11 assists for 87 points, ranking second all-time in goals, points, game-winning goals, and penalty kicks. Her consistency at the top of the stat sheet made her a cornerstone of the program's early success.
