The North Carolina Tar Heels are making serious moves in the transfer portal under new head coach Michael Malone. After a period of roster turnover, the program secured a key backcourt addition in former Virginia Tech guard Neoklis Avdalas. Now, they're targeting another major piece to bolster their lineup.

UNC has made the top seven for coveted NC State transfer Matt Able, as reported by Joe Tipton. The 6'6" guard, a former top-20 national recruit, is also considering Baylor, Stanford, UCLA, Miami, UConn, and Virginia.

Able showcased his talent in his freshman ACC campaign, averaging 9.2 points per game while shooting an impressive 37% from beyond the arc. He proved he can shine on the big stage, dropping 19 points against the Tar Heels earlier this season. His size and shooting touch would provide a perfect perimeter threat for Coach Malone's offensive system.

With the transfer window open for a limited time, the race for Able's commitment is heating up. Landing a player of his caliber from a conference rival would be a significant statement for the new era of Carolina basketball.
