Hawaii's softball team is riding a wave of momentum into the Big West Tournament, and it's all thanks to a dominant all-around performance in their regular-season finale. In a convincing 6-1 victory over UC Riverside in Riverside, Calif., the Rainbow Wahine showcased both pitching depth and offensive firepower, extending their winning streak to nine games.
On the mound, Hannah Pitts set the tone by allowing just one run over three innings, while Macy Brandl earned the win with three solid innings of work. Maryn Macneil then closed the door in the seventh, sealing the team's 29th win of the season against 18 losses, with a stellar 21-6 record in Big West play.
At the plate, Millie Fidge and Ellyanna Cinzori were the stars of the show. Fidge went 2-for-3, crushing a home run and driving in three runs, while Cinzori matched her with a 2-for-3 performance that included a triple, a homer, and three RBIs. Their timely hitting gave the pitching staff all the support they needed.
With this win, Hawaii enters the Big West Tournament as the No. 2 seed, earning a coveted first-round bye in the six-team event. The Rainbow Wahine will begin their postseason journey on Thursday, facing the winner of Wednesday's matchup between No. 6 UC San Diego and No. 3 UC Santa Barbara. For a team that's now won nine straight, the confidence is sky-high as they aim to bring home a championship.
