The Big West Conference has named University of Hawaii third baseman Jamie McGaughey its Field Player of the Week, recognizing a standout performance that helped the Rainbow Wahine close the regular season in style.
The junior slugger was unstoppable at the plate over the weekend, batting .600 as Hawaii swept UC Riverside. McGaughey delivered three home runs and a double among her six hits, scoring six runs and driving in four. This marks the second time this season she has earned the weekly honor, underscoring her value as a key offensive force for the Rainbow Wahine.
With the regular season now in the rearview mirror, the team turns its attention to the Big West Championship tournament, which begins Thursday. As the No. 2 seed, Hawaii has earned a first-round bye and will face the winner of Wednesday's matchup between No. 3 seed UC Santa Barbara and No. 6 seed UC San Diego.
