Viviane Araujo steps into the PFL cage for the first time this Saturday in Chicago, and she's bringing a wealth of UFC experience with her. After a 7-6 run in the Octagon that included wins over notable names like Jennifer Maia and Andrea Lee, Araujo is ready to make a statement in her new promotion. She faces fellow UFC veteran Shanna Young in a preliminary bout at the Wintrust Arena, promising fans an explosive debut.

Araujo knows the PFL's women's flyweight division won't offer any easy nights. "Looking at my history and everything I built in the UFC," she told MMA Fighting, "that experience helps me arrive well-prepared. I know there won't be any easy fights because this is high-level MMA in a major promotion." Her UFC losses came against elite competition, including champion Alexa Grasso and contender Natalia Silva, battles that have only sharpened her skills for this next chapter.

Originally slated to face Montana De La Rosa—a fighter she defeated in 2020—Araujo now meets Shanna Young, who steps in on short notice. Araujo believes this creates an "even better" stylistic matchup. Young, who went 1-3 in the UFC, is known for her durability, having been finished only twice in 19 pro fights. Araujo is confident she can change that statistic and start her PFL journey with a decisive victory.

"I'm super excited to put on a show for the fans," Araujo said, reflecting on her UFC tenure with gratitude. "I had the opportunity to reach the top, was stopped, but now I have another chance in another promotion. I'm in a new moment in my career and ready to show everything I've learned." For fighters and fans alike, this debut represents a fresh start and a high-stakes clash between two seasoned veterans looking to climb the ranks in a new arena.
