The tension is building as the UFC gears up for one of its most anticipated events of the year. UFC 328's official press conference is set to stream LIVE today at 5 p.m. ET, and you can catch every moment right here. This is where the storylines start to take shape before the fighters step into the Octagon.
Headlining the event is a massive middleweight title clash. Khamzat Chimaev puts his championship belt on the line against former titleholder Sean Strickland. The main event goes down this Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, exclusively on Paramount+. These two warriors have been trading verbal jabs for weeks, and today's press conference promises to be just as explosive.
But the main event isn't the only fight in the spotlight. Flyweight champion Joshua "Fearless" Van will also take the dais, making his first title defense against the surging Tatsuro Taira in the co-main event. Taira, with just one loss on his record, is looking to spoil the party. Expect fireworks between these two as they set the stage for their 125-pound showdown.
UFC CEO Dana White will be on hand to keep things moving, but the real entertainment will come from the fighters themselves. Heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall recently shared his thoughts on the main event matchup, and his analysis adds another layer of intrigue to an already compelling fight.
"I think this is going to be a good fight," Aspinall said on his YouTube channel. "Khamzat, to me, looks pretty unstoppable at the moment with his takedowns. Obviously, his striking is very dangerous too. I think Sean Strickland probably has a little bit of an edge in the striking department, but Khamzat's grappling is a different story. I don't know if Sean will be able to get up off the bottom enough times. I know a lot of people close to him, and everyone keeps saying how good he is at getting up, but we'll see."
Aspinall continued, "The big question for me is how many times can he get up without getting caught in a submission or getting tired? Khamzat will just rinse and repeat for five full rounds. If Strickland can survive that, not be exhausted—and he's never shown signs of that before—and put him on the end of that awkward, unorthodox striking style, there's definitely a chance. But in my opinion, I'm leaning a little toward Khamzat."
Today's press conference will give us a first real glimpse of the mental warfare. Will Strickland's composure hold up under the pressure of Chimaev's relentless intensity? Or will "Borz" continue his march of dominance? For the full UFC 328 fight card and Paramount+ lineup, stay tuned—this is one event you won't want to miss.
