The UConn Huskies' championship-winning roster continues to see changes in the offseason, with another key piece reportedly on the move. Junior forward Jaylin Stewart has entered the transfer portal, as reported by On3 Sports and confirmed by his stepfather on social media.
Standing at 6-foot-7, Stewart showed tremendous loyalty to the program, staying with UConn for three seasons despite facing a crowded depth chart on the wing. This competition for minutes made it difficult for him to secure a consistent starting role, though he still started 24 of the 104 games he played in a Huskies uniform.
His quest for a larger opportunity elsewhere comes after a season where he averaged 4.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in 16.2 minutes per game. His playing time was also impacted by a knee injury that sidelined him for over a month during the crucial final stretch of the season. Stewart returned in time for the NCAA Tournament's second weekend, contributing 24 total minutes during UConn's run to the national championship game, adding seven points, seven rebounds, two assists, and a block.
For his career, the Seattle native shot an efficient 48.8% from the field and 33.5% from three-point range. Stewart now joins a growing list of Huskies entering the portal, including Eric Reibe, Rrezon Elezaj, Uroš Paunović, and Jacob Furphy.
As the transfer portal activity continues, UConn's coaching staff is simultaneously focused on future roster construction. The program awaits decisions from players like Solo Ball, Braylon Mullins, and Jacob Ross as they build towards the 2026-27 campaign.
