When Preston Cushman arrived at UCF last season, the massive offensive tackle was focused on one thing: proving he belonged. Standing at 6-foot-5 and 305 pounds, the Ole Miss transfer quickly integrated himself into Scott Frost's program, earning the starting right tackle job and solidifying his place on the Knights' offensive line.

Now, entering his final collegiate season, Cushman's role has evolved from newcomer to cornerstone leader. "I know the ins and outs now," Cushman said. "It feels good to know I'm one of the leaders this year, that I can set an example for the young guys." His new offensive line coach, AJ Blazak, immediately recognized his presence, noting, "Preston's a big kid. When you walk into the room, you notice his stature right away."

That leadership will be critical for a unit undergoing a massive transformation. Cushman is the only regular starter returning from last year's line, following the departures of key players like Paul Rubelt and Carter Miller. The Knights must replace nearly 3,000 offensive snaps, a daunting task for any program.

To rebuild the trenches, UCF aggressively reloaded in the offseason, adding six new linemen through the transfer portal and freshman class. This new core, blending experienced transfers with promising young talent, will look to Cushman for guidance as they prepare for the 2026 campaign.
