Much-deserved praise after a much-needed series victory.

After a statement series win over No. 24 Tennessee, two Kentucky Wildcats are taking home some well-deserved SEC hardware. Tyler Bell has been named SEC Co-Player of the Week, while Braxton Van Cleave earned Freshman of the Week honors—a fitting reward for a team that desperately needed a bounce-back performance.

The Wildcats’ offense was relentless, putting up 30 runs across three games and keeping constant pressure on the Volunteers’ pitching staff. It was the kind of offensive explosion that can turn a season around, and Bell and Van Cleave were at the heart of it.

Bell, a sophomore from the Chicago area, was simply unstoppable. He posted a blistering .538 batting average with a 1.831 OPS and a team-best 16 total bases. He led the team with three doubles and six runs, while tying for the team lead in hits (seven) and home runs (two). Perhaps most impressive? He went deep from both sides of the plate over the weekend—a rare feat that shows his versatility and power.

Van Cleave, an outfielder from Arlington, Texas, was equally impactful. He went 7-for-14 at the plate, recording multiple hits in all three games, including a career-high three on Sunday. He also launched a 429-foot home run that left no doubt about his freshman talent.

This series win likely pushes Kentucky back onto the right side of the NCAA Tournament bubble, but the work isn't done. With just seven regular-season games remaining, the Wildcats will need to maintain this level of intensity to punch their postseason ticket. For now, though, Bell and Van Cleave have given Big Blue Nation plenty of reasons to believe.
