This marks a cruel recurrence for Daly, the 33-year-old England international, who fractured the same arm just ten months ago, sidelining him from the British and Irish Lions tour. His new contract extension, keeping him at the club until 2028, is now followed by a lengthy rehabilitation. For Onyeama-Christie, the 27-year-old Scotland wing, this is another frustrating setback in a career hampered by serious injuries, including previous arm breaks and a fractured ankle.

Compounding the crisis, Argentine flanker Juan Martin Gonzalez has undergone foot surgery and is also ruled out for the season. There is a sliver of positive news on the injury front, however.
