Another memorable Mother’s Day in Milwaukee

There's something magical about Mother's Day in Milwaukee, and Brice Turang made sure that tradition lived on. Twenty years after Bill Hall—wearing number two and swinging a pink bat—launched a walk-off homer on this special day, Turang, also number two, delivered an instant classic. With two outs and the game on the line, he crushed a pitch that barely cleared the center-field wall, giving the Brewers a 4-3 victory and a series sweep of the mighty New York Yankees.

The game started with promise for Brewers starter Logan Henderson, who fanned Trent Grisham to open the game. Then came a defensive gem: Ben Rice made hard contact, but Blake Perkins—playing in right field for just the fourth time in three seasons—made a spectacular running catch. But then came Aaron Judge. The Brewers had done an excellent job containing the slugger all series, holding him to just one hit and three walks. But you can't contain greatness forever. Judge crushed a first-pitch fastball down the middle for his MLB-leading 16th home run of the season. If he's going to get you, a solo shot with two outs is the least damaging way to let it happen.

Henderson walked Cody Bellinger after the homer, and Bellinger promptly stole second, but Jazz Chisholm Jr. struck out to end the inning. The Brewers had their own chances early. Carlos Rodón, making his season debut after October elbow surgery, walked Jackson Chourio to start the game. Brice Turang attempted a surprise bunt, but Rodón made a slick play to throw him out—officially a sacrifice, though Turang was clearly looking for a hit. Last night's walk-off hero William Contreras became Rodón's first strikeout victim of the season, and Gary Sánchez also went down swinging, wasting that leadoff walk.

The Yankees threatened again in the second. Ryan McMahon worked Henderson for a 10-pitch at-bat that would have resulted in a bloop single if not for a terrific catch by Luis Rengifo down the third-base line. José Caballero then smoked a ball to center field with one out, but Garrett Mitchell made a valiant effort to track it down. The tension was building, and Mother's Day magic was waiting to strike again.

This was more than just a game—it was a reminder of why we love baseball. The Brewers, wearing their pink-trimmed uniforms and swinging pink bats in honor of moms everywhere, showed heart, hustle, and a knack for the dramatic. And for fans watching from the stands or at home, it's moments like these that make a day at the ballpark unforgettable. Whether you're in the stands cheering or wearing your favorite Brewers gear while watching from the couch, this is the kind of victory that makes you proud to be part of Crew Nation.
