Chicago Mount Carmel receiver Quentin Burrell is the eighth commit and an important addition to Michigan's 2027 class.

Big news out of Ann Arbor: four-star wide receiver Quentin Burrell has officially committed to Michigan football, giving the Wolverines a major boost in their 2027 recruiting class. The Chicago Mount Carmel standout made his decision public on Wednesday, becoming the eighth player to join Michigan's latest haul and the first receiver to do so.

Burrell, who stands at 6-foot-2 and weighs 195 pounds, is ranked as a top-100 national recruit by both Rivals and ESPN. That kind of talent doesn't go unnoticed—he drew heavy interest from Notre Dame, Arizona State, Missouri, and others. In fact, many recruiting analysts had pegged the Chicago Catholic League product to land with the Fighting Irish, making this a significant win for the Wolverines.

The recruitment process was a team effort. It started with former receivers coach Ron Bellamy, who has since moved into a director of player personnel role. Then, new receivers coach Micah Simon and offensive coordinator Jason Beck stepped in, seamlessly building on that foundation to lock in Burrell's commitment.

Burrell's connection to Michigan runs deeper than just football. His older sister, Kali, played soccer for the Wolverines and graduated this spring. He also took several unofficial visits to campus, getting a firsthand feel for the program. "The coaches are really close, like a family," Burrell said. "And you can feel that. Plus it's a great school in the Big Ten with great history and traditions."

On the field, Burrell has been turning heads since eighth grade. As a junior last fall, he hauled in 67 catches for 1,139 yards and 16 touchdowns. Over his high school career, he's racked up 142 receptions for 2,396 yards and 34 scores—numbers that show he's more than ready for the next level.

With Burrell in the fold, Michigan's 2027 class now has eight commitments. He's the first from Illinois and the first at his position. But the Wolverines aren't stopping there. All eyes are now on his teammate, four-star cornerback Tavares Harrington, who is expected to announce his decision this week. Predictions are leaning heavily toward Michigan for the 6-foot-2, 190-pound defensive back.

Looking ahead, Michigan is also making a strong push for in-state receivers Dakota Guerrant (Harper Woods) and Tre Britton (Belleville). Both are scheduled for official visits the weekend of June 19. Guerrant is also considering Oregon, while Britton has his sights set on Miami and Missouri as well. If the Wolverines can land even one of these targets, it would solidify an already impressive receiver class.

For Michigan fans, this is just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting recruiting cycle.
