Jacksonville Jaguars fans eagerly awaiting the return of two-way sensation Travis Hunter will need to exercise a little more patience. The dynamic cornerback and wide receiver, who suffered a season-ending knee injury last year, is still working his way back to full strength.
General Manager James Gladstone provided an update, indicating Hunter is currently a "limited participant" in the team's offseason program. The positive news, however, is that the organization fully expects him to be cleared for full participation when training camp opens. "He'll be, for all intents and purposes, a limited participant throughout the offseason program with eyes on return to play at full tick in training camp," Gladstone stated.
Hunter's rookie campaign was cut short, a disappointment for a player the Jaguars invested heavily in, trading up to select him with the No. 2 overall pick in last year's draft. The franchise's vision for Hunter remains undimmed: they see him as a potential generational talent, capable of becoming an elite contributor on both offense and defense—a rarity in the modern NFL.
For now, the focus is on a careful and complete rehabilitation. The Jaguars' faith in his unique skill set means they are willing to be cautious, prioritizing his long-term health and a triumphant return to the field this summer.
