The Mechanicsburg baseball team is on fire! The undefeated Indians completed a dominant series sweep of Northeastern on Tuesday with a commanding 15-2 victory, pushing their perfect record to an impressive 8-0. The offensive explosion saw eight different players notch hits, with Conner Eyink, Hank Huffman, Crew Lafary, and Eli Wilson leading the charge with three hits apiece. Eyink was also dominant on the mound, earning the win with a stellar 11-strikeout performance over six innings. At 8-0 overall and 5-0 in the Ohio Heritage Conference, Mechanicsburg looks unstoppable as they prepare for a Friday road trip to Catholic Central.
Elsewhere on the diamond, it was a day for dramatic finishes and powerful performances. Piqua rallied with five runs in the final two innings to edge Miamisburg 9-6, thanks in part to a 3-for-4 day from Mason Casto. Greenville broke a 3-3 tie in the sixth to defeat Dayton Christian 4-3, while Monroe staged a thrilling seventh-inning comeback against Fenwick, capped by a walk-off single from Owen Daniels-Day for an 8-7 win.
Power was on full display across multiple games. Brennan Shaffer blasted two home runs to propel Kenton Ridge to a 7-5 win over Benjamin Logan, their fourth straight victory. Hamilton's bats were hot in an 8-1 win over Sycamore, with Peyton Eversole crushing two homers. Troy Christian's offense exploded for 27 runs against Northridge, led by Logan Cool's perfect 4-for-4, four-RBI day, snapping a two-game skid.
Pitching gems were also in abundance. Cedarville's Zach Creeden was nearly untouchable, throwing seven shutout innings with seven strikeouts and going 2-for-3 at the plate in a 3-0 win over Greeneview. Arcanum's Bishop Cartwright tossed five shutout frames in a 10-0 victory over Dixie, and Brody Orsborne struck out nine over seven innings for Riverside in their 6-2 win over Miami East.
In softball action, unbeaten Kenton Ridge stayed perfect behind Ivee Rastatter's nine-strikeout performance in a 4-0 shutout of Benjamin Logan. Fairborn's offense erupted for 19 runs against West Carrollton, powered by Serenity Medley's triple, homer, and five RBIs. Edgewood used a massive 10-run second inning to cruise past Eaton 15-2, with Madison Ferrell driving in three runs.
