Up until this point, seemingly everything has gone the Wisconsin Badgers' way this offseason.
The Badgers men's hockey program snagged a few major transfers, but star freshman forward Justin Poirier announced he'd be transferring from Maine to Penn State.
Wisconsin had long been linked to the Carolina Hurricanes fifth round draft pick (No. 156 overall in 2024), but Poirier opted to go play for the Nittany Lions instead.
There's certainly no love lost between Wisconsin and Penn State, and this furthers the animosity heading into the 2026-27 season. Poirier, who just underwent surgery, took quite a long time to officially put his name into the portal. Now, Brad Elliott Schlossman confirmed he's the Nittany Lions second transfer, alongside Vermont's Caeden Herrington.
That said, Wisconsin still has three incoming transfers. That number is among the most in the conference as the Badgers only trail Notre Dame (4) and Minnesota (6).
Currently, Mike Hastings' squad has notable incoming freshmen along with Penn State's J.J. Wiebusch, Northeastern's Dylan Compton, and Cornell's Alexis Cournoyer all on the 2026-27 roster.
