The Grace Christian Academy baseball team is stepping up to the plate with championship aspirations, entering the postseason with their best record in over a decade and a top ranking in Division II-A. The Rams, boasting an impressive 30-4 record, are riding high on a 21-game winning streak and are determined to capture their first state title since 2015.

That 2015 season was a historic one for Grace Christian—it marked their only 30-win campaign and their first state championship. Since then, the Rams have made four appearances at the state tournament, including last year. But this season feels different. With a blend of young talent and hard-earned experience, the team is poised for another deep run.

"We had a lot of success last year and made a long run," said head coach Brent Walsh. "We had a lot of young kids, and you have to learn how not to lose and figure out how to win. Now we expect to win. We definitely built some confidence from last year and that experience. I think the guys just expect to win every time we're out here."

However, the road to the title hit a bump Monday evening when Boyd Buchanan rallied late, scoring six unanswered runs to snap Grace Christian's 21-game win streak. The Rams now face an elimination game as they look to advance to Sectionals. Their next regional matchup is scheduled for Tuesday, May 5.

For a team that's been dominant all season, this is a test of resilience. Can the Rams bounce back and chase their first state baseball title since 2015? All eyes are on the diamond.
