Mark your calendars, runners and walkers! The Top of Michigan Festival of Races is making its highly anticipated return to Petoskey on May 23, offering a perfect blend of competition, scenic beauty, and community spirit.
Scheduled to take place at Bayfront Park, this year's event—proudly presented by 4Front Credit Union—gives participants the freedom to choose between a half marathon, 5K, or 10K. Each course is thoughtfully designed to showcase the stunning shoreline of Lake Michigan, winding along the Little Traverse Wheelway and through the serene Petoskey State Park.
Race director Becca Nelson is thrilled to welcome back the running community, noting that last year's event drew nearly 500 participants. "People love to walk and run along the shores of Lake Michigan," Nelson shared. "And what better place to do it than on one of the most beautiful and popular recreational trails in the Midwest?"
But this festival is about more than just personal bests. Proceeds from the races will directly support the Top of Michigan Trails Council, as well as the Petoskey High School track and cross country teams—making every stride count for the local community.
While same-day registration will be available, organizers encourage signing up early to secure your spot. To guarantee a commemorative race t-shirt, be sure to register by May 12.
Whether you're chasing a new PR or simply soaking in the breathtaking lakeside views, the Top of Michigan Festival of Races is a must-do event for any active lifestyle enthusiast. For full details and registration, visit TrailsCouncil.org/festivalofraces.
