The Miami Dolphins' 2026 rookie class isn't just another group of newcomers—it's the cornerstone of a full-scale roster reset under the fresh leadership of general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley. And if there's extra weight on the shoulders of first-round picks Kadyn Proctor and Chris Johnson, they're not showing it.
On the first day of rookie minicamp in Miami Gardens, Proctor—the imposing offensive lineman out of Alabama selected 12th overall—made it clear he's ready to lead. "It's definitely such a blessing being the team's first pick," he said. "I know they have that trust in me to go out there and lead. Communication is key to our success. Coming in here, getting into it with the guys—that's most important."
Across the field, cornerback Chris Johnson is stepping into a position room that needs immediate impact. Unlike past draft picks who had room to grow, the San Diego State product is expected to hit the ground running as a potential No. 1 corner. But Johnson isn't fazed. "It's not really pressure for me," he said after his first pro practice. "I love expectations. I hold myself to those. The staff brought me here for a reason, and I feel good about being a foundational piece for the Dolphins."
Together with 11 other draft picks and 11 undrafted free agents, Proctor and Johnson are forging bonds that could define Miami's future. "Just sitting in the meetings, looking around, dapping everybody up—it's been such a special moment," Proctor added. "We know how hard we worked to get here. Now it's about building those relationships fast."
For a franchise in transition, these rookies aren't just filling spots—they're laying the foundation. And if Friday's energy is any indication, the Dolphins' future is in confident hands.
