In a major recruiting victory for the Virginia Tech Hokies, head coach James Franklin has secured a commitment from Peter Bourque, the nation's top uncommitted quarterback prospect. The four-star signal-caller chose the Hokies over the Georgia Bulldogs, marking a significant early win for Franklin's first recruiting cycle in Blacksburg.

Bourque, a standout from Marion, Massachusetts, is ranked as the No. 82 overall player and No. 7 quarterback in the 247Sports composite rankings. He also holds the distinction of being the top-ranked player from his home state. The Tabor Academy star had an impressive junior season, earning Gatorade Player of the Year honors in Massachusetts after completing 63.3% of his passes for 2,241 yards and 18 touchdowns in just nine games, while adding 688 rushing yards and 15 more scores on the ground.

His recruitment took an unexpected turn when he decommitted from the Michigan Wolverines following the firing of head coach Sherrone Moore. Virginia Tech quickly emerged as a frontrunner, thanks in part to several Hokies assistants who had previously recruited Bourque during their time at Penn State. After an official visit to campus on April 18, Bourque was sold on the Hokies' vision for his future.

Bourque becomes the 11th recruit in Virginia Tech's 2027 class and the fourth four-star prospect. The group is currently ranked as the 17th-best class nationally and third-best in the ACC by 247Sports.
