One of the 2026 NFL Draft's very top prospects already has his sights set on Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young.

On Thursday night, the New York Jets selected Texas Tech's David Bailey with this year's second overall pick. Then, on Friday afternoon, the 22-year-old pass rusher spoke with local reporters from the team facility in Florham Park, N.J.—and was asked which quarterback he's looking forward to sacking most.

As noted by the Jets' social media squad, Bailey and Young were teammates at Mater Dei High School. The two shared a sideline in 2019, the final year Young spent in Santa Ana, Calif. before moving on to the University of Alabama.

Bailey, who played his first two collegiate campaigns at nearby Stanford University, transferred to Lubbock for 2025. He'd proceed to lead the nation with 14.5 sacks.

Unfortunately for Bailey, he probably won't get a shot at Young during his upcoming rookie campaign—as the Jets and the Panthers will not face off against one another during the 2026 regular season.
