In a major recruiting win for Purdue basketball, 7-foot center Isaiah Hill—the top-ranked center in the 2027 class—has committed to the Boilermakers, as first reported by Rivals.

Hailing from Pike High School in Indiana, Hill is rated as the No. 12 overall prospect nationally according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. This makes him one of the highest-ranked recruits to pledge to Purdue in the modern recruiting era, a testament to the program's growing appeal under head coach Matt Painter.

The high four-star big man drew interest from a host of powerhouse programs, including Indiana, Louisville, Illinois, Notre Dame, Oregon, and several others. But in the end, Purdue's long-standing belief in him sealed the deal.

"Most importantly, I feel like it’s a good school for me," Hill told Rivals. "They’ve been recruiting me since eighth grade and have always believed in me. I wasn’t that good back in eighth grade compared to where I am today. Now I’m one of the top players in the country, so they’ve just believed in me since eighth grade."

Hill becomes Painter's first commitment in the 2027 class, and his decision was heavily influenced by Purdue's track record with developing seven-footers. When asked about this, Hill didn't hesitate.

"Yeah, they can help me with my post work a lot," he said. "I know I’ve been more of an outside player, but I want to be able to do both when I get to college. That’s one of the reasons I liked Purdue."

The relationship between Hill and the coaching staff has been a key factor. He has built a strong bond with lead recruiter and assistant coach PJ Thompson, as well as Coach Painter.

"I feel like it’s a very, very good relationship," Hill explained. "Me and PJ (Thompson) play the game with each other, we laugh and joke around, and we’ve been talking almost every day. Me and Coach Painter have a very good relationship as well."

So, what kind of player is Purdue getting in Isaiah Hill? In his own words, he's a versatile force who can impact the game on both ends of the floor.

"I feel like I’m a versatile player because I block shots, play outside, rebound the ball, rim run, and shoot it," Hill said. "But most importantly, I’m trying to work on my post work as well so I can do both. I’ve actually been working on that a lot lately."

With his unique blend of size, skill, and room to grow, Hill is poised to be a cornerstone of Purdue's future—and a perfect fit for their tradition of dominant big men.
