Tommy Fleetwood has heaped praise on PGA Tour rookie Alex Fitzpatrick after his stunning start to life on the world's biggest stage. While the younger brother of world No. 4 Matt Fitzpatrick may have flown under the radar at first, he's quickly proving he belongs among the elite. Fresh off earning his Tour card alongside Matt at the Zurich Classic—where many assumed big brother was the driving force—Alex is now making his own headlines. At the Cadillac Championship, his first Signature Event, he notched a top-10 finish at Doral, and he's carried that momentum into this week's Truist Championship at Quail Hollow.

Through two rounds, Fitzpatrick sits tied for third at seven-under par, an impressive nine shots clear of his brother in the same field. He's just one stroke behind Tour Championship winner Tommy Fleetwood, who took notice of the young star's rise. "It's great. He's on a great run of form," Fleetwood said after his second round. "I remember playing back in Europe last year, and he had struggled up until that point. But his game was clearly coming back. He had a great finish to the year and has continued that on. His work is paying off."

Fleetwood, who has known Fitzpatrick for years from their DP World Tour days, emphasized that confidence is key. "It's an amazing time for him to be playing well and feel confident. It just shows that wherever you are, if you're playing good golf, you can compete on any given week. It's great to see him and Pete doing so well. It's a great start to his PGA Tour career." With another strong showing this week, Fitzpatrick could enter next week's PGA Championship as a serious contender—no longer just Matt's brother, but a force in his own right.
