Good news is finally on the horizon for UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, who has been out of action for the past seven months due to a freak eye injury. The British star suffered double vision and other sight issues after being accidentally poked in both eyes during his UFC 321 main event clash with Ciryl Gane last October. That fight was ruled a no contest, and Aspinall has been unable to spar ever since—until now.

In a recent update shared on his YouTube channel, Aspinall revealed he's just come from the eye hospital with a clean scan and a positive prognosis. "Things are progressing f**king nicely," he said, clearly relieved. "They're saying pretty soon, if things keep rolling in the right direction, I will be cleared for contact." While he's back in the gym training, he's still holding off on sparring—but the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter.

With Aspinall sidelined, the UFC has moved to crown an interim champion. Gane will face former two-division champion Alex Pereira in the co-main event of UFC Freedom 250 on June 14 at the White House. Aspinall has been told by the promotion that he'll face the winner of that bout to unify the titles.

"Everyone keeps asking when I'm going to fight. The obvious answer is the other two guys have to fight for the interim title," Aspinall explained. "First and foremost, I have to get my health right, which it's on the right track. Then we fight the winner. Simple as that."

For fight fans and gear enthusiasts alike, this is a welcome update. Aspinall's return will be a massive moment for the heavyweight division—and when he steps back into the Octagon, you can bet he'll be doing it in style. Stay tuned for more updates on his recovery and eventual comeback.
