Manchester United academy graduate Toby Collyer has shared fascinating insights into life alongside the club's stars, revealing that Bruno Fernandes' training-ground brilliance often left him speechless.
The 22-year-old midfielder, currently on loan at Hull City, made 13 first-team appearances for United during the 2024-25 campaign. In a recent interview, Collyer opened up about which teammates truly stood out during his time at Carrington.
"In terms of ability, Bruno Fernandes," Collyer told The Athletic. "Some of the stuff he does in training would have me thinking, 'That's not normal, I don't understand it.' Obviously, he's clever, but he does turns where he just finds a pass out of nowhere. It's incredible."
Collyer also reserved special praise for Casemiro, the veteran Brazilian midfielder whose leadership and professionalism made a lasting impression. "Casemiro was a big role model too, a player I looked up to. These past four years, being around him, just watching and seeing the little things he does – first into training, ultra professional."
The young star earned his first European start alongside Fernandes against Rangers, joining a growing list of players who have marvelled at the Portuguese playmaker's talent since his arrival at Old Trafford. Fernandes is now just two assists away from breaking the Premier League single-season record, currently held jointly by Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry.
For Collyer, the focus now shifts to helping Hull City secure a long-awaited return to the Premier League after a nine-year absence. The Tigers face Millwall on Friday in the first leg of their play-off semi-final – a crucial step in what could be a defining chapter in the young midfielder's career.
