Travis Kelce is gearing up for another season, and the NFL world couldn't be more thrilled. During a recent interview with People Magazine, Amazon Prime Video's Thursday Night Football host Charissa Thompson weighed in on the Kansas City Chiefs' star tight end's decision to return for a 14th season in 2026.

"Was I surprised by it? No. I'm hopeful," Thompson said. "The NFL is better when Travis is on the field. As a person, as a player, everything he's done—I'm excited for him to have another year and make that decision with his friends, his family, and, of course, his fiancée (Taylor Swift)."

Kelce's return comes on the heels of a new three-year, $54.735 million deal with the Chiefs, which could reach $57.735 million with incentives. The first year alone is worth $12 million plus an additional $3 million in performance bonuses. While the contract spans multiple years, the expectation is that 2026 will mark his final season, with his retirement likely restructuring his remaining cap hits.

For Thompson, who has covered Kelce for nearly two decades, seeing him continue is a privilege. "It's been exciting, and I just love having him on the field and being able to watch him play and leave on his own terms," she shared.

As Kelce enters the 2026 season, he sits third all-time among tight ends in receiving yards, trailing only Tony Gonzalez and Jason Witten. He's just 2,126 yards behind Gonzalez for the top spot and only 45 yards shy of passing Witten for second place—a milestone that could come early in the season.

With Kelce back in the lineup, the Chiefs remain a powerhouse, and fans can look forward to watching one of the game's greats add to his legacy. Whether you're gearing up for game day or just love the sport, Kelce's return is a reminder that some legends just aren't ready to hang up their cleats.
