The 2026 NFL Draft has come and gone, and now the conversation shifts from "who was picked where" to "who will shine brightest." ESPN NFL analyst Ben Solack has already unveiled his early Offensive Rookie of the Year favorites, and Tennessee Titans fans have reason to pay close attention.

Topping Solack's list are the three highest-drafted offensive skill players: Raiders quarterback Fernando Mendoza, Cardinals running back Jeremiyah Love, and—most notably for Tennessee—wide receiver Carnell Tate, selected fourth overall. But can the rookie live up to the hype in a Titans uniform?

Let's set the stage. Last season, Panthers wideout Tetairoa McMillan claimed Rookie of the Year honors with a stellar 1,014-yard, seven-touchdown campaign, following in the footsteps of recent winners like Ja'Marr Chase (2021) and Garrett Wilson (2022). That's elite company, and Solack isn't fully sold on Tate matching that bar—at least not right away.

"Tate was not the primary receiver at Ohio State and will now draw WR1 attention in the NFL," Solack notes. He also points to a crowded Titans receiving room, which includes veteran Calvin Ridley—returning from an injury-plagued season—and Wan'Dale Robinson, a high-volume slot receiver familiar with head coach Brian Daboll from their Giants days. "The road for Tate to climb is tougher than McMillan's was a year ago," Solack adds.

But here's the flip side: the Titans invested the fourth overall pick in Tate, signaling their intent to make him a focal point. Opportunity is everything in the NFL, and last season, Tennessee's leading wide receiver was former fourth-round rookie Elic Ayomanor with just 515 yards. That's a gaping hole in the passing game, and Tate has the chance to fill it immediately.

With a new offensive scheme under Brian Daboll and a supporting cast that includes two 1,000-yard receivers (Ridley and Robinson), the stage is set for Carnell Tate to make an immediate impact. Whether he can deliver a Rookie of the Year performance remains to be seen—but the Titans are betting big that he can.
