The Denver Nuggets took a 1-0 series lead over the Minnesota Timberwolves in a hard-fought Game 1, but the post-game chatter wasn't just about the final score. The spotlight fell squarely on the free-throw line, where a staggering discrepancy left Minnesota's coach scratching his head.

While the entire Timberwolves squad attempted just 19 free throws, Denver's Jamal Murray alone shot and made a perfect 16 from the charity stripe. This historic performance—the most free throws without a miss in a playoff game in Nuggets franchise history—was a pivotal factor in his 30-point night and Denver's 116-105 victory.

"Well, the 16 free throws from Murray was a head scratcher," said Timberwolves coach Chris Finch. "I thought we played really good defense on him... We were physical. We were vertical. He initiates the contact, he spills away and then he gets rewarded for it."

Murray, whose three-point shot was off all night (0 for 8), countered by aggressively attacking the rim, earning eight free throws in the second quarter alone. "I thought I got fouled on every single one of them," Murray stated. "Real fouls."

The Nuggets' dynamic duo proved too much for Minnesota. While Murray orchestrated the offense, Nikola Jokic recorded his 22nd career playoff triple-double with 25 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists, improving Denver's postseason record to an impressive 15-7 when Jokic achieves the feat.

For the Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards showed flashes of his All-Star self, contributing 22 points and seven assists as he works his way back from a knee injury. The stage is now set for a crucial Game 2, where Minnesota will look to adjust its defensive approach and even the series on Denver's home court.
