A bullpen day went well, and Matt Vierling and the kids powered the Tigers over the Royals.

The Detroit Tigers put on a show for the ages on Sunday, proving once again that their youth movement is the real deal. After dropping five straight games, the Tigers roared back with a 6-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals, powered by a lineup of fresh faces and a bullpen that stepped up big time.

It was a day to remember for Gage Workman, who got the call-up earlier in the day to replace Kerry Carpenter and wasted no time making his mark. Workman launched his first major league home run, sending a jolt of energy through the dugout and the stands. He wasn't alone in the spotlight—Hao-Yu Lee and Wenceel Pérez delivered clutch RBI hits, while Matt Vierling added his own key knock to keep the offense rolling.

On the mound, the Tigers had to get creative. With Framber Valdez serving a suspension, it was a bullpen day, and the relievers answered the call. Brenan Hanifee got the start and navigated through early traffic, giving way to Brant Hurter, who snuffed out a potential Royals rally in the first inning. The bullpen held firm, mixing pitches and keeping Kansas City off balance all night.

The game had a festive feel too, with Mother's Day bringing out the pink bats, spikes, and catcher's gear under the Kansas City sun. The Tigers hope their moms were proud of the fight they showed.

Detroit jumped ahead early when Vierling worked a leadoff walk in the first, but the Royals countered quickly. Maikel Garcia led off the bottom half with an infield single, and Bobby Witt Jr. followed with a bloop hit that Pérez couldn't quite track in the tricky evening light. But the Tigers' defense tightened up, and Hurter came in to induce a pop-up that ended the threat.

Riley Greene got things started in the second with a line drive to right field that Jac Caglionone lost in the sun, setting the stage for more young talent to shine. Pérez followed with a soft pop-up that fell in, and the Tigers never looked back. This team is showing that the future is now, and they're not just competing—they're winning.
