Three takeaways: Georgia run rules LSU baseball in Game 3

LSU baseball was swept on Sunday, losing to Georgia in run-rule fashion in Game 3. LSU has one more SEC series left.

LSU baseball's rough weekend in Athens came to a disappointing close on Sunday, as Georgia run-ruled the Tigers in Game 3. The Bulldogs dominated from the start, putting up four runs in the second inning—which alone would have secured the win—before piling on for a lopsided victory. With just one SEC series left, LSU heads home to face Florida, hoping to regroup and finish strong. Here are three takeaways from the loss.

1. Casan Evans' return was short-lived.
After missing the past couple of weekends, Evans got the start, but Georgia greeted him harshly. He was pulled after just 1.2 innings, allowing four runs on four hits, three strikeouts, and two walks. It was a tough welcome back for the pitcher, but facing the No. 1 team in the SEC is never easy—the Bulldogs proved why all weekend.

2. Offensive struggles continue.
LSU managed just one run on Sunday, with no Tiger recording a multi-hit game. Steven Milam was the only one to notch an extra-base hit. The offense has struggled against quality SEC pitching throughout the season, and this game was no exception. Against a powerhouse like Georgia, those struggles become glaring.

3. Pitching couldn't stop the Georgia onslaught.
Zac Cowan relieved Evans but didn't fare much better, giving up seven runs on eight hits over 3.1 innings, with two strikeouts and three walks. Georgia's bats showed no mercy, scoring 12 total runs and ending the game early via the run rule. It was a long day for the LSU pitching staff.

LSU will get a chance to bounce back when the Florida Gators visit Baton Rouge on Thursday for the final regular-season series. For the Tigers, it's about finishing strong and building momentum for postseason play.
