The Penn State Nittany Lions are keeping the momentum rolling on the recruiting trail, securing a commitment from three-star wide receiver Jamir Dean on Friday. This latest addition continues a hot streak for the program, which landed 11 prospects in April alone as they build toward their 2027 recruiting class.

Standing at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, Dean hails from Alcoa, Tennessee, and chose Penn State over offers from Purdue, Arkansas, and UConn. The Nittany Lions acted quickly to land the talented receiver, extending a scholarship offer on Feb. 20. After making his first visit to State College last week, Dean was impressed enough to make his commitment official just days later.

According to the Rivals industry ranking, Dean is rated as the No. 681 overall prospect and the No. 100 wide receiver in the nation. He also ranks as the No. 26 player from the state of Tennessee, showcasing the depth of talent the Nittany Lions are tapping into.

Dean’s junior season at Alcoa High School was nothing short of productive. In 13 games, he hauled in 34 receptions for 590 yards and 11 touchdowns. But his impact wasn’t limited to offense—he also contributed on defense and special teams, recording 13 tackles, an interception, and averaging 33.7 yards on kickoff returns and 11.8 yards on punt returns. That versatility is exactly the kind of playmaking ability that could translate well to the college level.

With Dean’s commitment, Penn State now has 14 commits in their 2027 class, a remarkable jump from just two at the start of April. The class is currently ranked 14th nationally and 5th in the Big Ten by Rivals. Dean joins four-star wide receiver Landon Blum as the second receiver in the group, giving the Nittany Lions a promising duo to build around in the passing game.

For Penn State fans, this is another sign that the program’s recruiting engine is firing on all cylinders—and a reminder that the future of Nittany Lions football is looking bright.
