Somerset's young all-rounder Josh Thomas has committed his future to the county, signing a new two-year contract that will keep him at the club through the end of the 2028 season. Thomas has been a consistent presence in Somerset's County Championship campaign this season, featuring in all four matches so far. His standout moment came against Yorkshire, where he scored a career-best 136 runs—a gritty innings that showcased his potential, even in a losing effort. That knock has been a highlight of his 260 runs this season, and it's clear the young talent is finding his rhythm at the professional level.

Director of cricket Andy Hurry praised Thomas's growth, noting, "Since making his first XI debut, we've seen a number of performances that have highlighted Josh's potential. "It would be good to stay in the first team for as long as possible and hopefully I can get an opportunity in the Blast, but I'm trying to not look too far ahead," he said.
