Sometimes, all it takes is a little reset to find your groove—and Cleveland Guardians reliever Colin Holderman is living proof.

Holderman's 2026 season couldn't have started much worse. In his first two outings, he surrendered three earned runs over three innings, walking two batters and allowing two hits. It was far from the first impression he wanted to make with his new team. The Guardians even optioned him to Triple-A during their opening road trip, sending him to Columbus while the club returned to Progressive Field for their Home Opener.

The good news? In baseball, a reliever is only as good as his last outing—and Holderman has been turning his season around in a big way.

Recalled on April 26 as the Guardians looked to freshen up their bullpen, the 30-year-old has been one of Cleveland's most reliable arms in high-leverage spots. In four appearances since rejoining the big-league club, Holderman has thrown seven scoreless innings without allowing a single earned run.

Even more impressive? He's been virtually unhittable. Holderman hasn't issued a walk during this stretch and owns a microscopic 0.57 WHIP over his last four outings. While his strikeout rate sits at 20 percent since being recalled, he's been generating plenty of ground balls and letting his defense do the work behind him.

Thanks to this efficient run, Holderman has dropped his season ERA to 1.80 and his WHIP to 0.80—a remarkable turnaround for a pitcher who looked lost just a few weeks ago.

The big question, of course, is whether this is sustainable. While no reliever can keep a 0.00 ERA forever, there are reasons to believe this version of Holderman is closer to the real deal. His hot streak actually began in the minors, where he didn't allow a single run in four appearances (eight innings) before earning his recall.

Clearly, something clicked. Whether it was a mechanical adjustment, a mental reset, or just finding his rhythm, Holderman has transformed from a struggling arm into a key piece of Cleveland's bullpen—and Guardians fans should be excited to see what comes next.
