As Florida State football puts the finishing touches on spring camp, Head Coach Mike Norvell is seeing the growth he was looking for. The Seminoles wrapped their final full-padded practice Wednesday, focusing on high-pressure situational drills like two-minute and backed-up scenarios they hadn't yet tackled this spring.

This deliberate approach is all about building resilience. Norvell is intentionally putting his team in adverse practice situations—starting drives at their own two-yard line, placing the ball inside the 10—to test their composure and response. "I like having emotional teams... but I want guys and teams that are always in control of their emotions," Norvell explained. The goal is to forge a squad that remains steady through the inevitable highs and lows of a game.

His strategy appears to be paying off. After expressing some displeasure with the offense following the second scrimmage, Norvell has been pleased with the unit's improved execution and response. "That’s one of the most impressive things... they’re showing great traits of being a resilient team," he said, highlighting the mental toughness developing within the roster.

All eyes now turn to Saturday's scrimmage, which Norvell says will feature a heavy dose of goal-line work—roughly 15 to 20 straight plays. It will be another critical test, especially for players like quarterback Kevin Sperry. Norvell praised Sperry's clear arm talent and elusiveness but noted that developing consistency is the next step in his progression.

For the Seminoles, this spring has been less about installing a perfect play and more about installing a perfect mindset. As they prepare to transition into summer workouts, the foundation of a tough, resilient team is being laid one challenging practice at a time.
