At the Region IV-2A/4A meet held at Javelina Stadium in Kingsville, emotions ran high as athletes punched their tickets to state. Refugio's Mikel Brown delivered a standout performance, capturing the Class 2A boys 200-meter dash and letting out an emphatic yell of triumph that echoed the intensity of the competition. His teammate, Kolton Taylor, showed strength in the discus, while Jazmyn Howard dominated the triple jump, later standing proudly on the podium after her victory.
Kingsville's JB Kazanjian wowed the crowd with her agility in the Class 4A girls long jump and the 100-meter hurdles, proving she's a versatile threat on the track. In the field events, Skidmore-Tynan's Dean Carriger cleared the bar with precision in the Class 2A boys pole vault, topping the podium after a stellar performance. Calallen's Trevor Roach showcased his power in the shot put, also earning a place on the winner's podium. And in a heartwarming moment, Tuloso-Midway graduate Jayden McCoy was seen embracing Kingsville's Christian Flowers after Flowers placed second in the 200, a testament to the sportsmanship that defines Texas high school athletics.
