The Diamondbacks once again come out of another series taking 2 of 3 from the defending AL Champs. After just coming back from a road trip with a bunch of 2-1 series wins spilling out of their car onto the driveway, they continue their habit of trading a loss for two wins. One can only hope that the team can achieve their own trend of continually trading until they get the ultimate prize. I might be getting way ahead of myself.

We keep calling them the DramaBacks, but I feel like this team is the SteadyBacks.

The series opened with who might be my favorite surprise asset in Michael Soroka. The Canadian may have possibly committed treason against the team from the Great North in that 7 inning performance, and dropped his ERA down to 2.70 in the process. It was certainly a much needed relief to the overworked bullpen. The guys at Dbacks Dispatch believe that he has to be one of the best steals of the off-season at only $7 million.

Saturday night belonged to no one else but Corbin Carroll. Using some deli magic to turn a meatball into a grand salami, Corbin’s alchemy also turned a tie game into an all but guaranteed W. In a previous episode, a viewer expressed their belief that they don’t think Corbin Carroll is elite. Well, the guys at Dbacks Dispatch haven’t let that one go and Corbin keeps showing us all why he truly is an elite player. With a 1.1 fWAR and a career OPS over 1.o00, the dog days of the sophomore slump seem to be a fading bad memory.

The series finale, unfortunately, is a very vivid memory that I hope to forget as soon as I finish writing this article.

Ryne Nelson’s most notable achievement is that came off the mound with a pitching line that no other player in history has ever accomplished – if you want to call it that. One out, eight runs, and one Sunday with my tv turned off most of the day. However, Brandon Pfaadt did come in and helped try and sweep the mess under the rug with a solid outing of his own. His ability to eat innings on Sunday was definitely a huge help in keeping the team fresh and ready to go for our most formidable opponent today.

Although the D-Backs have stayed steady with a 2 win 1 loss series habit, I’m sure we’d all love to see them have a little cheat day and stray from their routine this series. Sweep the Sox and let’s have ourselves a fun fiesta in Mexico!
