The Sporting News is proud to unveil its 2026 High School Girls Basketball All-America Team, a collection of the nation's most electrifying young talent. Headlined by superstars like Kaleena Smith, Kate Harpring, and Saniyah Hall, this year's selections highlight a class defined by historic achievements and jaw-dropping individual performances.
Selecting just 15 players from a pool of incredible talent was no easy task. The final roster—comprising 10 seniors and five juniors—includes a remarkable 10 state Gatorade Players of the Year, plus the overall national winner. The depth of skill is so profound that even our Second Team features a preseason National Player of the Year favorite and the Gatorade National Player of the Year herself, who is now headed to the legendary UConn program.
Kate Harpring, the top-ranked recruit in the Class of 2026, cemented her legacy by being named the Naismith Girls High School National Player of the Year. She powered the Marist War Eagles to a 29-2 record and a GHSA AAAA state title with dominant averages of 29.5 points and 11.2 rebounds per game. Her crowning moment came in the state championship, where a 40-point, 16-rebound performance not only secured the win but also made her Georgia's all-time leading scorer with 3,435 career points.
Not to be outdone, Kaleena Smith of Ontario Christian reaffirmed her status as the nation's premier player in the Class of 2027 for an incredible third consecutive season. Leading her team to a 34-2 record, a national schedule, and the program's first-ever CIF Open Division state and national titles, Smith was a model of consistency and excellence. She averaged 31.5 points and 6.9 assists per game, scoring at least 20 points in 35 of her 36 contests. Even in her team's only two losses, she shined against top-tier competition, proving she performs when the lights are brightest.
