Lamine Yamal has been offered some advice on his recovery from injury ahead of World Cup 2026 after being ruled out for the rest of the season with Barcelona.
The teenager has been sidelined with a hamstring problem but is expected to be fit in time to play at the World Cup with Spain this summer.
Yamal has already been warned that his injury carries a high risk of relapse, and Barcelona’s former head of physiotherapy, Juanjo Brau, says he needs to take things slowly when he is ready to return.
“Let’s see, in this type of injury you always have to be careful, no matter how old you are,” he told Sport.
“There is a biological time that must be respected above all else, restore strength and be very progressive in readaptation, because there is a very high risk factor of relapse in the coming weeks once you are already playing.
“The most important thing is to dose the minutes when you start playing.”
Barcelona have already reportedly warned Spain to exercise maximum caution when it comes to Yamal’s return, with the hope being that he won’t start the team’s group games so that he can be 100% ready for the knockout phese.
